The End of an Era

We moved to our present home in 1998 and like many villages we had a post office and a shop.  Over the years the post office has changed hands three times, but  on the 15th January 2014 that all came to an end as the Post Office shut it’s doors for the last time.  It has been in the same location for 111 yrs, it seems such a shame but I guess it is a sign of the times as one by one the Post Offices are closing down.  I have been trying to get a photograph of the Post Office for a short while to go in my Telephone Box project as there happens to be one outside.  I have been hindered by parked cars and the weather for weeks now but on the 14th I just had to go with what was there and I am so glad I did as the PO signs were gone the next day. It is going to be converted back to residential by the present owners.

  1. It might be worth photographing the red post boxes as well as the older ones are starting to disappear as well. It really is the end of an era isn’t it.
